Richard Brown – BSc Physiotherapy MCSP

Orthopeadic Physiotherapy

img-richard-brown-profile Richard qualified as a physiotherapist from Leeds Metropolitan University in 1996.

Over the next five years, Richard progressed from a basic grade to then qualify as a senior physiotherapist in the NHS.  Much of his early NHS experience was on the care of the elderly wards and cardiac intensive care. He then moved to the orthopaedic wards where he provided pre- and post-operative care for many surgeries, including hip and knee replacements, ACL reconstructions as well as providing physiotherapy for the trauma patients.

I first Met Richard Brown in 2003 when as chairman of the Lansdown Tennis Squash and Croquet Club I sponsored him as our resident physiotherapist.  He is highly regarded by the members, and many of them including myself have received excellent treatment.  I have personally been extremely grateful for his ministrations both before and after operations to replace both my knees.

I consider him to be exceptionally gifted as a physiotherapist who combines his knowledge and wide experience with a sympathetic and kindly manner.

From the wards, Richard moved towards his main area of interest, orthopaedic outpatients.  In outpatients as well as looking after neck and back injuries, he also ran rehab classes for pre- and post-operative patients and has continued to work in the outpatient and sports injuries field over the last 15 years.

In 2001, Richard left the NHS to join the then Mathews and Allen Physiotherapy practice in Guildford. Here within a fantastic team, he further developed his skills treating many varieties of sports injuries in athletes of all levels from beginners to elite.

In 2003, Richard moved to Bath and established The Bath Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries Clinic. He introduced 45 minute appointments at the clinic to offer assessments in greater depth and a more safe, thorough and caring approach to physiotherapy.

Richard has an eclectic approach to physiotherapy and he treats with a mix of hands on exercise and electrotherapy.  He believes that good therapy is as much about giving patients the tools to prevent their problems from recurring as well as treating the problem itself.

I have known and been treated by Richard Brown as necessary for about 4 years, as have my wife and son. He is both thorough and meticulous in his approach with a very sound knowledge of his field. His honest approach to treatment means he enjoys the trust of clients ensuring their commitment to him.

I would have no hesitation recommending Richard’s services.
